ABOUT COACHING

Coaching Program

Here are answers to some common questions on Coaching

  • What is coaching?

Coaching is a partnership between you and your coach during which your thinking is explored and clarity is achieved. Our conversations are designed to bring out your own brilliance so that you are designing the life you want to live. Most importantly, coaching helps you to achieve your goals faster and better than you would on your own.

  • How does coaching help me create faster and better results?

During the coaching conversations I help you answer questions you didn’t even know you needed to ask. Our partnership allows you to go deeper and better align your thinking with your true values. During these engaging conversations you develop insights quickly, and we use your motivation to move forward and take action.

  • How are you different from other coaches?

I use a brain-based approach to coaching which, simply put, helps you think better!

  • Who works best with this approach?

It’s designed for high-functioning people to help them structure and challenge their thinking. It’s ideal for busy people, executives, and professionals who are ready to bring out their best self, achieve results, and establish habits for success.

  • Who’s not a good fit for this model?

    • Brain based coaching is about establishing a commitment to a goal and working towards achieving it. If you are not ready to commit to a goal, and then take consistent action, then this is not the time for you to begin working with a coach.
    • The best results are obtained when we work together for a minimum of 3 months. This gives you a chance to develop a clear plan of action and experience the transformational results that come from working your plan with a coach.
    • Coaching is designed to get you past your limited thinking on what you can achieve, move you out of your stuck space, and acknowledge that you are worth it. More importantly, you gain the confidence and belief system necessary to create success. If you are looking for a shorter engagement, you may want to seek another coach.
    • Coaching is an investment in your self. Some people have never invested in themselves before, or they simply don’t think they are worth the investment. If you are not serious about self improvement (or just too scared to consider believing in yourself) or believe the DIY method is what works best for you, then you are not ready to work with a coach.
    • Finally, if you are looking for talk therapy, or help with overcoming trauma, recommend that you seek a qualified psychologist. Coaching is about taking action and doing the work, because success comes through action.
  • How much does coaching cost?

Every coach is different in how they charge. I offer packages which you choose according to your need. What you pay depends on the package you choose and level of service you want to have.

  • How long have you been coaching?

    • All my life, I have engaged in coaching conversations without knowing what it was formerly called. Not only did my peers seek me out for guidance, but even in high school, school administrators sought me out for issues on how to manage student behavior. I rarely told them what to do, but instead helped them think through the situation to come up with a powerful solution they were motivated to move forward with.
    • In the late 90’s, I founded a training center within the corporation I was working with and started coaching colleagues on career development and the life issues impacting their career success. In 2008, I left my corporate position and started private
      practice coaching.
  • How does coaching work?

    • The brain-based model is a neuroscience, research based, approach to coaching which was developed by David Rock in 1996. The emphasis of this model is to help you create long-term change through awareness, reflection, insight and action.
    • I use this model to quickly bring about insight, which helps you uplevel yourself by putting in place good processes to support real change.
  • What can I expect from the coaching session?

    • When you work with me, you will find yourself in a safe, supportive, calm environment that encourages you to get to the heart of what really matters to you. You will feel valued, supported, and heard.
    • We will have an engaging conversation that will bring forth clarity, insights, and revelations that may surprise and delight you. You will find yourself challenged to think in new ways that reveal the answers you are looking for.
    • By the time our session ends, you will have clear, actionable goals that are self-motivating, life affirming, and most importantly, forward moving.
  • What results can I expect from coaching?

    • Obviously, results will vary from person to person, depending on your actual goals, your commitment to the process and your willingness to be coached. That said, you will begin to get really clear on what is most important for you to work on right now. From this place, we can create a plan to meet your goals.
    • Our partnership will provide you with the confidence needed to take action as we move together towards your goals. And if you get stuck along the way, I’ll help you break through the obstacles and challenges holding you back.
    • Most importantly, I will help you embed success habits as we celebrate your successes during each step of this journey. You are not doing this alone. I will hold you accountable, be your cheerleader, provide mentorship when necessary, and help bring out the best in you!
  • How is a brain based approach to coaching important to me?

The brain-based approach is designed to help move you to insight faster and quicker than other models. Also, because we are solution focused, you achieve more in less time.

There are five underlying principles to the brain-based model.

Self-directed learning: The coach provides a structure and a model to bring out new thinking. You do the hard thinking, but the coach may provide other useful perspectives to trigger new thinking.

Solutions focused: Research shows that focusing on negative thinking strengthens the negative thinking. The brain creates new circuits based on where attention is focused, so the brain-based model focuses closely on solutions rather than problems.

Positive Feedback: The coach provides positive reinforcement and acknowledgement, which helps you to build confidence.

Stretch: This model is focused on helping you reach challenging and motivating goals. The coach’s role is to stretch you to move rapidly and effectively to the achievement of the agreed upon goal, identifying and finding ways around blocks along the way.

Structure: A structured approach helps you to feel safe in the coaching process because you know exactly what is expected of you at each step along the way.
